("The Heritage of Armenian Literature: From the sixth to the eighteenth century" ) Wayne State University Press, 2002. p 427〕 Heratsi is often called the father of Armenian medicine, the author of "Relief of Fevers" tractate, a cyclopedic work in which he discussed, among other subjects, surgery, diet and psychotherapy. Yerevan State Medical University is named after M. Heratsi. The most prominent students of YSMU are awarded with "Mkhitar Heratsi scholarship".
